To provide information about services and opportunities available to all Douglas County residents 60 and older and to assist them in accessing those services directly or through coordination with other community agencies.

SHICK:
    Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansans
     Answering questions on:  Medicare & Supplemental Insurance
    Volunteers needed on a seasonal basis.

Seasonal Income Tax Assistance

Legal Assistance - 1st Wednesday afternoon of each month.  Call to schedule an appointment.

Caregiver Support Group
Meets the 1st & 3rd Monday, 2:15pm-3:45pm of each month at the Lawrence Senior Center, 745 Vermont


60 & Better
A monthly newsletter filled with timely articles, class & trip listings, calendar of events and program information. Mailed to over                      3,000 interested persons.

911 Emergency Cell Phones- Call for information on both donating your cell phone you no longer use, or call to schedule an        appointment to receive an emergency 911 cell phone.

Health Files - This is a method of communicating care instructions to emergency personnel in Douglas County.  For details,

Safe Winter Walkways - Volunteers will provide assistance to seniors or those with a disability by shoveling snow each
                      snowfall of 2 or more inches.  If interested please call 842-0543 or visit www.lawrenceks.org


Emergency Assistance - Our staff will help seniors with applications for emergency assistance, such as LIEAP
               (Low Income Energy Assistance Program)

Holiday Bureau- "Adopt A Grandparent" - Community Volunteers are matched with low income seniors and purchase
gifts for the holiday season.

Play Prize Bingo
with the
Community Services Staff

The Community Services staff hosts Prize Bingo on each Tuesday at the Lawrence Senior Center. Games are from 11:00am- 11:45 am in the dining center. Make your reservations and stay for lunch. 
Donations of NEW bingo prizes gratefully accepted.
