The Adult Day Program of Douglas County Senior Services, Inc. believes in the uniqueness of the individual and strives to accentuate the strengths of each person while allowing for and accommodating his or her limitations. It is our privilege to provide services that may assist in meeting the individual's varying social, emotional and physical needs in a safe and comfortable setting. The Adult Day Program makes every effort to provide a supportive environment that preserves the dignity of the participant and promotes their individuality while encouraging independence.
The Adult Day Program offers stimulation, socialization and supervision to adults with cognitive or physical limitations who might otherwise be isolated in their homes, At the same time, the Adult Day Program allows caregivers a much needed respite from their caregiving responsibilities.
Eligibility criteria for the Adult Day Program:
The participant should
-be 16 years of age or older
-be a resident of Douglas County
-be willing to cooperate with staff and participants
-be able to physically endure attendance
-be able to feed oneself
-be continent of bowel and bladder or able to manage personal
hygiene associated with incontinence.
-be able to cognitively and physically participate in activities.
-be able to communicate personal needs verbally or non verbally.
-not have a drug or alcohol problem.
-not have a recent history of verbally or physically abusive behavior.
-not require specialized services for mental illnesses.
The Adult Day Program is licensed by the Kansas Department of Aging and operates Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 am-4:00 pm. Fees for the program are based on a sliding scale and the time slot selected. The Adult Day Program is Medicaid approved. Some funding for this program is provided by the Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging. The Program Manager can give you information on available scholarship dollars.
